Best Robot Vacuums for Pet Hair: 4 Picks for 2026

Start with the Eufy C28 for lower-cost daily cleanup, Dreame L60 Ultra PE for carpet hair and clutter, X60 Max for low furniture, or Saros 20 for awkward thresholds. Independent tests explain where paying more helps.

The best robot vacuums for pet hair must do more than keep hair off their brushes. They also need to lift fur from your floors, dodge pet toys and return to a dock that can handle frequent emptying. These four vacuum-mop options solve different parts of that problem.

If you are choosing a spending limit before narrowing the pet-hair options, see our robot vacuum picks for every budget, including dock types and consumable costs.

Quick verdict

Our starting choice is Dreame L60 Ultra PE for a mixed-floor pet home with ordinary doorways. Its independent hair-pickup and obstacle results make a strong case before spending flagship money. Choose Eufy C28 instead when it is substantially cheaper and you can clear small objects first.

Pay more for X60 Max Ultra Complete if low furniture and clutter are the bigger obstacles; consider Saros 20 for difficult thresholds. These are needs-based picks, not a claim that one robot wins every carpet test. Check current prices against the trade-offs below.

Four picks by household need, rather than advertised suction
Your needThe useful choice
Daily shedding; clear floorsC28 if the price saving is meaningful. Its main compromise is avoidance, not the absence of a self-cleaning dock.
Hair pressed into carpet; scattered toysL60 Ultra PE is our starting point. Check doorway rises before ordering.
Fur under low sofas; small objectsX60 Max is worth comparing if the L60 cannot physically reach the area. Leave clearance beyond the minimum height.
Raised room transitionsSaros 20 deserves consideration when access matters more than the highest hair-test percentage.
Accident-prone petsNone is a substitute for checking the floor. Remove pet waste and exclude risky areas before a run.

Pet-hair pickup, tangles and obstacles are different tests

A tangle-free brush can still leave hair in a rug. Vacuum Wars recorded 100% flattened 2.5-inch hair pickup for C28, L60 Ultra PE and X60 Max, versus 88% for Saros 20. All four recorded zero wrap in its separate seven-inch hair test. These are controlled results, not promises for every coat or carpet.

Other testing changes the order. RTINGS favored Saros 20 over X60 Max for embedded carpet hair, while Tom’s Guide reported a lower C28 pet-hair result than Vacuum Wars. We do not average different protocols or declare a universal carpet winner. The useful distinction is whether you need stronger pickup, less brush cleaning, or fewer interruptions.

Eufy C28: the value choice for prepared floors

Best for: regular shedding and paw marks when C28 costs appreciably less than the alternatives. Eufy specifies a continuously refreshed HydroJet roller mop and automatic dock emptying, washing and drying. It is a practical vacuum-and-mop package rather than a basic drag-pad robot.

Main limitation: Vacuum Wars avoided only 15 of 24 obstacles. Loose toys and cables need attention before scheduling. Eufy itself recommends Turbo or Max suction and a 15-minute emptying interval for homes with pets or children. For the older alternative, see C28 vs X10 Pro Omni.

Dreame L60 Ultra PE: our starting pick for carpet and toys

Best for: pet homes where hair pickup and obstacle handling matter more than fitting under the lowest sofa. Vacuum Wars measured 21 of 24 avoided objects and 94% embedded-sand removal, alongside the hair results above. That is why we would compare this PE before buying a flagship.

Main limitation: it crossed a 19 mm single rise but failed at 25 mm in that test. Its corrected combined mopping result was below average; do not buy it expecting the strongest stain scrubbing. Check the exact PE designation in our L60 PE vs L40 Gen 2 comparison.

Dreame X60 Max: pay for access and avoidance

Best for: hair collecting under low furniture in a cluttered home. Dreame specifies a 79.5 mm minimum profile with retracting LiDAR; measure the space and allow extra clearance. Vacuum Wars avoided 22 of 24 obstacles, and RTINGS also preferred its obstacle handling to Saros 20.

Main limitation: the 235 mL onboard bin measured by Vacuum Wars is small for heavy shedding. Frequent dock returns matter more than a large advertised bag-life figure. The Complete package adds consumables, not a guarantee of cleaner carpet. See X60 vs X50 Ultra Complete before paying the newer-model premium.

Roborock Saros 20: consider it for difficult thresholds

Best for: a home where raised transitions prevent the robot reaching fur-filled rooms. Roborock advertises 45 mm single rises and 88 mm two-tier thresholds; the latter is not one vertical step. Vacuum Wars crossed a 57 mm barrier after repositioning, which exceeds the official single-rise guidance and is not a reliable buying limit.

Main limitation: its 17-of-24 avoidance result trails both Dreames here, while the carpet-hair findings disagree between labs. Choose it for your floor layout, not merely its suction specification. Our Saros 20 vs 10R guide explains the upgrade case.

Self-emptying still needs a shedding-season routine

Start with shorter cleaning zones and inspect the onboard bin after a run. Increase emptying frequency if fur packs tightly; a large dock bag cannot prevent a blocked robot inlet. Check brush ends, wheels and filters, and empty dirty water and clean the tray as the manual directs.

Before buying: price the correct bags, filters and mop parts; measure the dock with tank-removal space; check rug pile and fringe. Keep a conventional vacuum for stairs, upholstery and stubborn embedded hair. For the wider ownership decision, read are robot vacuums worth it?

Before you choose

Do you need a mop for pet hair? No. Mopping addresses paw marks on suitable sealed hard floors. If fur is your only problem, a vacuum-only or simpler auto-empty model may be better value; these four picks include mopping.

Can any of these safely avoid every pet accident? No such guarantee follows from a mixed-object test. Check the floor, use no-go zones around problem areas and supervise early runs.

What else is worth comparing? Vacuum Wars currently favors L60 Ultra PE in its pet ranking, while RTINGS favors Saros Z70 and also recommends MOVA P50 Pro Ultra. That disagreement is why our picks describe specific needs rather than one unquestioned market winner.
