Eufy C28 vs Dreame L40 Ultra Gen 2: Which Robot Vacuum and Mop Should You Buy?

Choose the C28 for its continuously refreshed roller and strong independent hair-cleaning results. The L40 Ultra Gen 2 makes more sense when its lower price and extending mop matter more. Here are the compromises.

The Eufy C28 vs Dreame L40 Ultra Gen 2 decision is about floor care and price, not which box advertises more suction. This comparison covers the black C28 and white US-market L40 Ultra Gen 2 linked below—not Eufy E25 or the original Dreame L40 Ultra.

Quick verdict

At similar prices, we would choose the C28 for a home that prioritizes mopping and shedding pets. Its continuously refreshed roller and independent cleaning results make a persuasive case, provided you can clear cables and small clutter.

Choose the Dreame when it costs meaningfully less and extending edge-cleaning hardware matters more. Its side brush and mop reach outward, but do not mistake Gen 2 for the original L40’s more advanced obstacle system. There is no verified controlled head-to-head result establishing an overall cleaning winner.

The differences that change the buying decision

Manufacturer specifications and practical differences; not a Decively performance test
NeedWhat changes
Mopping workflowC28 refreshes its HydroJet roller during cleaning. Dreame scrubs with two spinning pads and returns to its dock to wash them.
Edges and furniture legsDreame specifies an extending side brush and mop. Do not assume all rollers or all spinning-pad robots have the same edge reach.
Hair managementC28 includes a DuoSpiral detangling brush. Dreame lists a standard rubber brush; its TriCut accessory costs extra unless your bundle includes it.
Carpet transitionsClaimed mop lift: C28 10.8mm; Dreame 10.5mm. That small difference is not a reason to choose either for thick or delicate rugs.
Small obstaclesBoth rely on laser-based avoidance rather than an RGB recognition camera. Mapping a room does not mean reliably spotting every cord.
Dock automationBoth empty dust and wash/dry the mop. You still refill clean water, dispose of wastewater and clean relevant parts.

Mopping, carpets and pet hair: what the tests say

C28’s practical advantage is its mop workflow. Fresh water feeds the roller while dirty water is collected separately. That gives it a clear reason to consider it for routine paw marks and kitchen grime; it is not a promise that one pass removes every dried stain.

Vacuum Wars measured 89% embedded-sand pickup on medium-pile carpet and 100% removal of its 2.5-inch pet-hair sample. The C28 also avoided only 15 of 24 obstacles. Those are that reviewer’s test conditions, not guaranteed results in your home or a direct score against this Dreame.

Dreame’s case is reach and price. Its extendable mop and side brush target skirting boards, corners and furniture legs. A lower purchase price can leave room for replacement pads, bags or an optional TriCut brush; check what is actually included.

Jamie Andrews tested the exact Gen 2 and highlighted its simpler obstacle hardware compared with the original L40. We would not pay extra for an assumed camera or automatic mop removal: Dreame’s US Gen 2 specification lists neither. Its higher 25,000Pa claim, versus C28’s 15,000Pa, does not prove better carpet pickup.

What still needs your attention?

Illustration of generic water-tank and tray care. It is not an exact disassembly guide for either model; follow your manual.

Dust-bag claims such as “75 days” or “100 days” do not describe every maintenance task. Dreame’s US manual calls for used-water-tank care after each use. Eufy also tells owners to maintain accessories as prompted and remove cables before cleaning.

Expect to empty wastewater, refill clean water and check trays, filters and brushes. C28’s extra roller-water pathway is something to keep clean, not a reason to assume it stays hygienic indefinitely. Budget for model-specific bags, mop parts and approved solution—not just the robot.

Before ordering internationally: these links select Amazon US products. Check the exact dock’s electrical rating, local warranty and delivery terms. Dreame’s US guide specifies a nominal 120V circuit; a plug adapter alone does not establish compatibility with a 230V supply. A local Amazon match may select a different model or bundle.

Which one should you buy?

Pick C28 when the roller-mopping approach and its independent hair results solve your everyday problem, and the price gap is modest. Pick L40 Ultra Gen 2 when it is substantially cheaper and you want its extending edge hardware. If your floor is usually covered in charging cords or pet accidents, neither should be treated as a leave-anything-on-the-floor solution.
