The best hair dryers for curly hair give you useful airflow control and a diffuser that suits your routine. Among these three, Wavytalk Turblow Pro is our starting point for regular diffusing, Blown Away is the budget option, and Dyson Supersonic Nural is the premium choice for its two-mode diffuser.
Quick verdict
Choose Turblow Pro for the balance of control and cost. Blown Away makes sense when it is substantially cheaper. Pay more for Nural if you will use its removable-prong Wave+Curl diffuser—not simply because it advertises scalp sensors.

Dome or prongs: what changes for your curls?
Dyson’s Wave+Curl demonstrations in Vinca Blue/Topaz, composed by Decively. These show the two modes, not a Decively test or before-and-after result. Photos: Dyson.
Nural’s Wave+Curl attachment changes physically: remove the prong insert for Dome mode or refit it for Diffuse mode. Dyson positions Dome for enhancing waves and curl clumps, and Diffuse for root volume and textured curls or coils. Neither mode guarantees the same finish on every head of hair.
The important limitation: Dyson restricts Scalp protect to the Gentle air attachment and styling concentrator. Pause detect is also disabled with a diffuser. Attachment learning can remember settings, but do not buy Nural expecting all its automatic functions during diffusing.
Which hair dryer should you buy?
Turblow Pro: our practical starting point
Its third airflow setting is the clearest control upgrade over Blown Away, giving you another step for adjusting the strength of the air. Wavytalk’s specification lists three speeds and cool/warm/hot choices plus a cycling mode; that fourth mode is not a fourth fixed heat level.
WIRED’s Nena Farrell liked the independent controls, magnetic attachments and easy handling, and reported springy curls on her fine hair. This is encouraging firsthand evidence, not a timed comparison against the other two. Choose it if the current premium over Blown Away is modest.
Blown Away: buy for the simpler kit
The included diffuser makes this a complete entry point; you do not need to find a universal attachment that happens to fit. The concentrator and comb also offer flexibility for other styling routines.
It is our budget choice when its current price leaves a meaningful saving. We found less robust independent curly-hair testing for this exact model than for Turblow Pro, so we would not call it equally fast, quieter or better at reducing frizz.
Nural: pay for the attachment you will use
WIRED’s reviewers highlighted the two-mode diffuser’s flexibility. That is the more relevant premium feature for this guide; the sensor restrictions above matter if you mainly wear your hair curly.
Choose Nural for frequent styling when its diffuser and broader attachment set justify the price to you. Skip the premium if you only need basic diffusing. We found no controlled three-way test that establishes how much drying time, noise or frizz the extra spending would save.
Our buying decision
Start with Turblow Pro for regular diffusing, compare Blown Away if budget dominates, and consider Nural when its two-mode attachment solves a specific styling need. Compare current prices, seller, included attachments and return terms before choosing.
Common questions
Do I need an expensive hair dryer for curly hair?
No. A usable diffuser and controllable airflow matter more than buying the most expensive model. The Nural premium is easier to justify when you will use its two-mode attachment regularly.
Will these give me a smooth, straight blowout?
These recommendations focus on keeping your natural curl pattern. A concentrator and brush can serve a different routine; diffusing and straightening are not the same job.
