Ninja DZ201 review: the short answer
This Ninja DZ201 review starts with the key point: the DZ201 is a great air fryer for cooking two different foods at once, not for one giant batch. Its two 4-quart baskets let you air fry chicken in one and roast vegetables in the other, and Smart Finish makes them finish together.
If you mostly cook one big tray of fries or wings, a single, wider basket is the better buy. If dinner is usually a main plus a side, the Ninja DZ201 is one of the most convenient air fryers you can get.

What is the Ninja DZ201?
The Ninja Foodi DZ201 is an 8-quart, 6-in-1 air fryer with DualZone technology. Instead of one large drawer, it has two independent 4-quart zones. Each zone has its own basket, rapid heater and cyclonic fan, so you can run different programs, temperatures and times side by side.
The front panel has separate buttons for zone 1 and zone 2, plus Smart Finish and Match Cook. There’s no app or Wi-Fi, which keeps it simple to use straight out of the box.

Smart Finish and Match Cook: the DZ201’s best features
Smart Finish is why most people buy a Ninja DZ201. You set each basket separately, for example chicken at 400°F for 28 minutes and vegetables at 360°F for 18 minutes. The air fryer delays the shorter cook so both baskets are ready at the same moment.
Match Cook copies one basket’s settings to the other, so you can cook the same food in both zones. Serious Eats, testing Ninja’s larger two-basket models, called Smart Finish and DualZone the extras that actually make everyday cooking easier.

How well does the Ninja DZ201 cook?
Ninja says the 8-quart capacity fits mains and sides together, or up to 4 lbs of fries or chicken wings across both baskets. RTINGS describes the DZ201 as an air fryer meant for full meals and larger groups of five or more.
Independent testing adds an important caveat. In Serious Eats’ 2026 air fryer tests, the Ninja 2-Basket baskets measured under 7 inches wide. A half-pound of frozen fries in each basket cooked well, but a full pound in one basket was still undercooked after 20 minutes at 400°F.
The lesson: spread food across both baskets and keep each layer thin. Used that way, owners are very happy. The DZ201 holds a 4.8 out of 5 rating from more than 25,000 Amazon reviews, with praise for crispy fries, juicy chicken and easy two-dish dinners.

Ninja DZ201 capacity: what 8 quarts really means
Eight quarts sounds huge, but it’s split into two 4-quart spaces. Each basket is about the size of a small single air fryer. That works well for a family of three to five eating a main and a side. It doesn’t fit a whole chicken, a large pizza or a 9-inch cake pan.
For one big batch, split the food between both baskets and press Match Cook. You’ll get crispier results than piling everything into one drawer.

Counter space, power and cleaning
Counter space: at about 15.6 inches wide, 13.9 inches deep and 12.4 inches tall, the DZ201 is wider than most single-basket air fryers. Leave a few inches around the back vents and keep it away from cabinets above.
Power: it draws 1,690 watts. Avoid running it on the same outlet as a kettle or microwave to prevent tripped breakers.
Cleaning: both baskets and crisper plates are dishwasher-safe. Some long-term owners report wear on the nonstick coating, so hand-washing with a soft sponge and skipping metal utensils will help it last longer.

Ninja DZ201 vs. a single-basket air fryer
Serious Eats recommends a six- to seven-quart single basket as the most versatile size for most kitchens, and it found that large dual-basket fryers can need extra time to crisp. Choose a single basket if you cook one food at a time or want the crispiest big batches.

Ninja DZ201 review verdict: who should buy it
Buy the Ninja DZ201 if you regularly cook a protein and a side, feed three to five people, and want both foods hot at the same time without juggling timers.
Skip it if you mainly cook single large batches, have a small counter, or want a window, an app or a whole-chicken-size basket.
The bottom line of this Ninja DZ201 review: it’s a smart, easy family air fryer as long as you use both baskets and don’t overfill them.
