Ninja Crispi DualZone Review: Is the Glass Air Fryer Worth the Upgrade?

The glass containers make serving and storing leftovers easier. Whether that convenience justifies upgrading depends on your cooking habits, counter space and the current price gap.

Quick verdict: pay for the glass workflow

The Ninja Crispi DualZone is worth considering if you regularly cook a main and a side, serve from the cooking containers and save leftovers. Its strongest argument is fewer transfers between dishes—not a guaranteed improvement in crispiness.

Keep a working conventional DualZone if you mainly cook frozen snacks or rarely store leftovers. For a first purchase, compare the current price gap with the Ninja DZ201 before paying extra for glass.

Best fit: a permanent counter setup and frequent leftovers. Main compromise: weight, separate small cooking surfaces and a learning curve for cooking times.

What the glass containers actually change

Original Decively diagram. Do not seal the lid on a container immediately after cooking; follow the owner’s guide.

Ninja supplies two 4-quart CleanCrisp glass containers, two crisper plates and storage lids. You can cook and serve in the same container, then store leftovers once it has cooled appropriately. That is the useful upgrade if your usual routine involves another serving dish and a separate storage tub.

You can see the food through the sides, but visibility does not replace checking doneness. Also, glass does not mean the whole cooking system is coating-free: RTINGS identifies ceramic nonstick crisper plates on the US DD101. Ninja describes the glassware as PFAS- and PTFE-free. That material claim does not establish a health benefit over every other air fryer.

The US DD101BL1 has six functions: Air Fry, Bake, Roast, Dehydrate, Recrisp and Max Crisp. Smart Finish coordinates different cooking times; Match Cook duplicates settings. Conventional DualZone models also offer synchronised cooking, so that feature alone is not a reason to upgrade.

Cooking results: good, with a learning curve

RTINGS’ DD101 tests found mostly crisp, evenly cooked food, but some pieces remained undercooked while others were done. Its measured cooking area was 36.2 square inches per container. The practical takeaway: do not confuse advertised volume with space to spread food in one layer.

James White at Freakin’ Reviews reported successful salmon and broccoli, but frozen nuggets and fries needed adjustments. He also found that Max Crisp cannot run in both zones simultaneously or use Match Cook. Those restrictions matter if two batches of frozen food are your main reason for buying.

The tests support capable everyday cooking, not set-and-forget perfection. Use the supplied cooking charts as starting points, turn or shake food as directed and check proteins with a food thermometer. Smart Finish synchronises your chosen times; it does not sense when every ingredient is cooked.

Evidence note: these are independent reviewers’ results. Decively has not physically tested this air fryer.

Official model features; this is not a controlled cooking-performance comparison. The same total capacity does not establish equal usable surface area.

For an upgrade, ask what your current fryer makes inconvenient. If it already cooks dinner well, glass mainly buys a different serving-and-storage routine. If you need room for large individual foods, check the dimensions of each container rather than the combined capacity.

For a new buyer, the conventional DZ201 is the relevant starting comparison. Read our DZ201 review for its trade-offs, or our basket vs rack air fryer guide if you are still choosing a layout.

Space, care and the exact US model

Capacity diagram showing two separate 4-quart Crispi DualZone containers rather than one 8-quart chamber

Advertised capacity: two separate 4-quart spaces. Schematic, not to scale.

Ninja lists the appliance at 16.7 × 11.73 × 11.57 inches and 31 lb. Measure the counter and leave the clearance required by the manual. This is better treated as a countertop appliance than something you lift out for every meal.

The containers and crisper plates are dishwasher-safe; lids go on the top rack. The owner’s guide says to let glass cool gradually to room temperature before washing and not to seal a lid immediately after cooking. Use oven mitts when handling hot containers and stop using chipped or cracked glass.

The linked Amazon.com variant is DD101BL1 in Cyberspace. The US guide specifies 120V/60Hz and 1,785W. Some UK/EU versions add Keep Warm and Prove; do not assume those eight-function features apply here. International buyers should check the local model, voltage, delivery and warranty before ordering. A plug adapter alone does not convert voltage.

Final verdict: is the upgrade worth it?

Buy it for a routine you will actually use: two dishes cooked separately, served in glass and stored without another transfer. If that happens most days, the convenience can justify a premium.

Skip the upgrade if your current DualZone works well and glass would mostly be a cosmetic change. For a first purchase, the Crispi makes more sense when its current price is close to the conventional alternative; a large gap demands a much stronger need for its containers.

Questions before buying

Is the Ninja Crispi DualZone better than a regular air fryer?

It offers glass containers that double as serving and storage dishes. That is a convenience advantage, not proof of better results for every food.

Is it one large 8-quart cooking chamber?

No. The advertised 8-quart capacity is split between two 4-quart containers. Large individual foods must fit one container.

Is the Crispi DualZone the same as the portable Crispi?

No. This review covers the countertop DD101BL1 with two simultaneous cooking zones, not the portable PowerPod models or the single-zone Crispi Pro.
