Want to spend more time printing and less time adjusting the bed? The Flashforge Adventurer 5M combines an open CoreXY frame with automatic leveling, a direct-drive extruder and a removable PEI plate. It is a promising shortlist option for practical models, hobby projects and a first step into FDM printing.

This is a research-based review of specifications and buying trade-offs; Decively has not hands-on tested the printer.

Fast printing: what 600 mm/s really means

Flashforge advertises up to 600 mm/s travel speed. The supplied listing separately quotes 200–300 mm/s printing speed. Travel is movement of the print head; it is not a guarantee that an entire model prints at that pace. Filament flow, cooling, geometry and your slicer profile determine usable speed. Start with the material profile rather than chasing the largest number.

Less setup, not zero maintenance

Automatic leveling reduces manual bed adjustment, while the flexible PEI plate lets you release a cooled print by bending the sheet. These conveniences do not guarantee a perfect first layer: keep the plate clean and use the right material settings. Power-loss recovery is a useful fallback, but a cooled or detached model may still fail to resume cleanly.

Choose the nozzle for the job

PLA and PETG are the straightforward starting point. Flashforge lists larger nozzle options for TPU and carbon-fiber blends; check the nozzle assembly and filament recommendations before ordering. Quick-release assemblies simplify changes, but optional sizes are not all included. The standard 5M is a single-extruder printer: “color print speed” in a seller field does not mean automatic multicolor printing.

The open frame is the main trade-off

The standard Adventurer 5M arrives without an enclosure or built-in air filtration. The enclosed 5M Pro is a different model. If you want a ready-enclosed machine, price that requirement separately; the supplied red/yellow enclosure image does not establish what your order includes.

Is it worth it?

Worth shortlisting if you want a compact PLA/PETG printer with automatic leveling and fewer setup chores. Its appeal is convenience at an accessible quoted price. Look elsewhere if you need a larger build area, automatic multicolor printing or an enclosure included from the start. Budget for filament and any optional nozzle you actually need.
